Łukasz Rostkowski - L.U.C.
Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski is a composer, music producer, and author of multimedia performances, television programs, series, and films. His music, "Sleepoholic," was selected by Oscar winners Emmanuel Lubezki and Alejandro Inarritu for their special VR project, "Carne y Arena," which received a special Oscar at the 9th annual Academy Governors' Gala.
He has collaborated with numerous renowned composers, such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Leszek Możdżer, and Jan AP Kaczmarek, as well as with distinguished animators, including Oscar winners Zbigniew Rybczyński and Tomasz Bagiński. Rostkowski composed the soundtrack for the film "The Peasants," Poland's 2024 Oscar candidate for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Animation, and Best Original Score. The music from "The Peasants" was included in Variety's list of the 15 best soundtracks with the greatest chance of winning an Oscar. His work has also been recognized with the Polish Film Awards Eagles, Onet's O!Lśnienia, and RMF Classic's MocArt awards. He has been nominated for the Fryderyk Award multiple times. In 2010, he received the Polityka Passport for his project "Understanding Poland" for "an innovative blend of disciplines and genres." In 2015, under the patronage of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016, he founded the international large-scale orchestra Rebel Babel Film Orchestra, of which he became the leader. RBE has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in New York, the New Orleans Jazz Museum, the United Nations, the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and many others. He is also a member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) and the European Film Academy.
In his compositions, he transcends genres, creating at the intersection of nu jazz, trip-hop, hip-hop, reggae, folk, electronica, and classical music. His greatest passion is the combination of music with images and words. He has recorded with many outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists, including Katie Melua, Krzysztof Penderecki, Urszula Dudziak, and Mum, and has provided live support for artists such as Tricky, The Prodigy, Talib Kweli, Coldcut, Massive Attack, and many other world-class artists.
Recently, Łukasz created a new sound identity for Polish Radio and also launched the Symbiosis Symphony project – a multi-genre journey through the history of the Old Continent, in which musicians from various countries combine elements of European culture. This international project premiered during Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and served as the artistic culmination of the Polish presidency.
